About this guide

This guide is about your information and your privacy.

Privacy means your information is kept safe and private.

What information do you keep?

We keep information about you. This is called your records.

It can include your health, your support and notes from our visits.

We keep it safe on computers with passwords.

Only the people who help you at Richer Support can see your file.

We do not sell your information.

We ask you first

We ask you before we share your information. This is called consent. Consent means you say yes.

You can say no to some sharing. It will not change your support.

Who we share with, and why

If you say yes, we share your plan with the people who support you. Then they can use the plan to help you.

If you say yes, we talk with your doctor or other health workers. This helps us understand your health.

If you move to a new provider, we only share your information if you say yes.

What the law makes us share

Sometimes the law says we must share information. We do not need your yes for this.

We must share information if someone is in danger.

We must share information if we think a child is not safe.

We must tell the NDIS Commission about some things. For example, a restrictive practice or a serious incident.

We must share information if a court tells us to.

We will usually tell you first.

Seeing your records

You can ask to see your records.

You can ask us to fix something that is wrong.

We try to answer within 30 days.

It does not cost you money.

Changing your mind

You can change your mind about sharing at any time.

Please tell your practitioner, or email us at contact@richersupport.com.

If we have already shared something, we cannot take it back. We stop sharing it from then on.

Computers and AI

Sometimes we use AI. AI is a computer program that can help write words.

Some practitioners use AI to help write notes from a visit. We only do this if you say yes.

The AI program does not keep a recording of what was said.

Your practitioner checks the notes before they are saved.

Before we use other computer programs, we take off your name and other details. Then nobody can tell the information is about you.

People make all the decisions about your support. AI does not make decisions about you.

You can say no to AI. It will not change your support.

Who can I talk to about privacy?

You can talk to your practitioner.

You can email us at contact@richersupport.com. Our Director looks after privacy at Richer Support.

You can contact the privacy office. It is called the OAIC. Call 1300 363 992 or visit oaic.gov.au.

You can call the NDIS Commission on 1800 035 544.
