The standard is simple:
care we'd want for someone we love.

I'd worked in disability for years, as a support worker and then a behaviour support clinician, when my dad suddenly needed support and I landed on the other side of the table. No longer the therapist but a daughter, advocating.

Dad was brilliant, had a wicked sense of humour, and was a staunch supporter of the underdog. He'd spent part of his own working life developing systems to improve the standard of aged care, and then found himself relying on the kind of systems he'd spent years trying to make better.

One doctor in particular supported him to leave hospital to do what he wanted most: share an evening with his family at home. I've never forgotten that doctor, or their honesty and humour.

When he passed, I started this practice in his name. Richard became Richer. The whole idea, a richer life rather than just a compliant one, comes from him.

Four years on, we've set ourselves a lofty goal: to raise the standard of behaviour support in Australia.
