Behaviour support practitioner

Nikitta is one of our behaviour support practitioners on the Sunshine Coast, and she came to behaviour support as a registered nurse with more than a decade in mental health nursing and psychosocial rehabilitation. Her nursing years taught her to look at the whole person: health, medication, environment, relationships and history, not just the behaviour in front of her. She has supported people through psychiatric crises, de-escalated safely, and helped plan the transitions that carry someone from hospital back into everyday life. That clinical depth is a real asset when behaviour and health overlap, as they so often do.

Nikitta also works as a specialist support coordinator with participants who have complex psychosocial disability, neurodivergence and trauma histories, and it shows: she has an expert understanding of the NDIS and how to make plans, funding and services genuinely work for a person. She knows the local service landscape well, and she knows what good behaviour support looks like from both sides of the referral, because she has spent years helping families and support teams put behaviour support plans into practice.

Alongside her practice, Nikitta is completing her Master of Counselling. That training runs through how she works: listening carefully, building trust at the person's pace, and making sure families and support teams feel heard rather than managed. Her approach is trauma informed and always oriented to the least restrictive path.
