Queensland practice lead
Jessie leads our Queensland team, and her understanding of behaviour began long before she became a practitioner. Life alongside her brother, Daniel, who communicates without spoken language and has complex support needs, taught her to notice communication beyond words. Long before she knew the phrase behaviour is communication, she was living it.
Being closely involved in Daniel's care gave Jessie a personal understanding of the love, responsibility and complexity families carry, and showed her that the right support can change more than one life. As Daniel gained independence, Jessie gained the freedom to build her own, and to know their relationship as his sister rather than have it defined by care.
That experience led her to psychological science and Positive Behaviour Support. A psychology graduate preparing to undertake Honours, Jessie works alongside people with disability, their families and support teams to understand what behaviour is communicating, and to build support that is practical, compassionate and genuinely person centred.
As Practice Lead and clinical supervisor, Jessie also mentors our practitioners, building the confidence and reflective practice that high quality support asks for. Her work brings together psychological science, professional experience and her perspective as a sister, with a simple belief at its heart: good support gives people more life, not merely more services.
