Positive behaviour support practitioner
May is one of our behaviour support practitioners in Sydney, and she holds a PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Otago. Her research explores how people navigate group identities and prejudice in marginalised communities, and she brings that same consideration and care to her practice: careful attention to who a person is, the groups and places they belong to, and how the world responds to them.
Raised in a Chinese-speaking immigrant family, May has long been drawn to questions of identity and belonging. She knows what it is to move between cultures and languages, and it shapes how she works: with curiosity, humility and real respect for each family's way of doing things.
That lens matters in behaviour support, where feeling understood and included is so often the ground everything else is built on. May works alongside participants, families and support teams to understand what behaviour is communicating and to build strategies that are practical, respectful and genuinely person centred. Outside of work, she is an avid reader and loves time in nature.
