Sydney Team Lead

Kimberley leads our Sydney team. She has almost six years of experience in behaviour support, working with NDIS participants of all ages and with a wide range of support needs, and she supports and supervises practitioners in our Sydney team.

Kimberley began her career as a primary school teacher in New South Wales. In the classroom she worked with children with a wide range of developmental, behavioural and communication needs, and used positive behaviour support and changes to the classroom environment to help them learn and take part. She then completed a Graduate Diploma of Psychology at Monash University, and has worked as a behaviour support practitioner since 2021.

Her clinical work includes functional behaviour assessments, interim and comprehensive behaviour support plans, training for support teams, and risk assessment and safety planning. She has worked with people with complex and high-risk needs, including people with co-occurring mental health conditions, people involved with the justice system, and young people in out-of-home care. She works closely with families, support workers, schools, supported independent living providers, day programs, health services and the Department of Communities and Justice, so that everyone around the person is working the same way. Much of her work has focused on reducing and fading out restrictive practices through assessment, skill building and regular monitoring.

Kimberley’s approach is neuroaffirming, trauma informed and person centred. She starts from the understanding that behaviour meets a need, and that once the need is understood, the person can be supported to meet it in ways that are safer and more meaningful to them. She has mentored and provided peer supervision to other practitioners for several years, and she enjoys helping practitioners build their skills and confidence.

Kimberley receives regular clinical supervision from our Director, Bo Hodgson.
