Behaviour support practitioner

Sam is one of our behaviour support practitioners in Sydney, and one of those people who is easy to talk to from the first hello. He enjoys working with people of all ages and walks of life, and he has a particular aptitude for supporting younger men, who tend to click with him quickly.

Sam's background is in mental health. He moved to Australia from New Zealand to study psychiatry, and realised along the way that the part of the work he cared about most was the everyday side: connecting with the person in real life, not just in appointments. That is what pulled him away from medical school, and into behaviour support.

He takes time to get to know a person properly before anything else. He listens more than he talks, keeps things practical, and works closely with families and support teams so that strategies fit the complexities of real life rather than sitting in a document.
